Privacy Policy for SmartPark
Effective Date: September 26, 2026
Applies to the SmartPark Android app (package co.csedge.smartpark)
In short: SmartPark stores everything on your device only. It has no server, no account system, and no ability to send data anywhere - the app doesn't even request internet access. This policy explains exactly what the app touches and why.
1. What Data SmartPark Handles
SmartPark is a parking-lot ticketing tool built to work fully offline. All of the following stays in the app's private storage on your device and is never transmitted anywhere by the app:
- Vehicle records - number plates, vehicle type, entry/exit times, fees, and section/lane, entered manually or scanned from a photo.
- Subscription records - plate numbers and owner names you enter for monthly/weekly passes.
- Settings - your lot name, address, contact number, pricing, and receipt preferences.
- Audit log - a local record of actions taken in the app (tickets created, settings changed), for your own operational reference.
None of this data is collected by us, sent to a server, or shared with any third party, because the app has no server and does not request network/internet permission at all.
2. Camera
SmartPark uses your device's camera to read number plates using on-device text recognition (Google's ML Kit, running entirely on your phone). Photos are processed in memory to extract the plate text and are not saved, uploaded, or shared. If you use the "Gallery" option instead, the same applies to the image you pick.
3. Bluetooth
If you connect a Bluetooth receipt printer, SmartPark uses Bluetooth only to send the receipt text directly to that paired printer. This is a direct device-to-device connection; no data passes through us or any external service.
4. Backup & Restore
SmartPark lets you export a backup file (a plain JSON file containing the data listed above) and import it later, e.g. when moving to a new phone. You choose where that file is saved using your device's own file picker - SmartPark does not upload it anywhere itself. If you choose to save it to a cloud drive, email it to yourself, or otherwise share it, that transfer is governed by the privacy policy of whichever app or service you used for that, not by SmartPark.
5. Data You Control
Since everything lives on your device, you're in full control:
- Deleting the app deletes all of its stored data (unless your device's own Android backup service has a copy - see below).
- You can export a backup at any time and inspect it, since it's a plain, human-readable JSON file.
6. Android System Backup
Like most Android apps, SmartPark's app data may be included in your device's own Android backup (Google's device-to-device or cloud backup, governed by your Google Account and device settings) if you have that enabled. That backup is controlled by Android and your Google Account, not by SmartPark directly. You can review or disable this in your device's Settings > System > Backup.
7. Children's Privacy
SmartPark is a business tool for parking-lot operators and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, since it does not collect information at all in the sense of transmitting it anywhere.
8. Changes to This Policy
If SmartPark's data handling ever changes (for example, if a future version adds an optional cloud sync feature), this policy will be updated first, and the update will describe exactly what changed and why.
